01 Is Google Cloud (GCP) any Good? My expert Review

I have used a considerable number of cloud services over the years, AWS and Azure to name a couple; however, GCP was unique from the rest of the pack. I would like to share with you some back stories with GCP, and the success we experienced using GCP, and how it helped us stay on track and achieve our objectives.

The first win was scaling up when busy was simple. We had an e-commerce client who was growing rapidly, and using Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) basically was just flipping a switch. During major sales, the applications scaled with ease, we didn't experience any delays, nor any outages during the busy periods. Happy customers, good sales, all around win.

Moreover, I loved the seamless integration of all the Google toolsets together. A social media/mining data project that entailed BigQuery, Google Analytics, and Data Studio was a win; it was available from minute to minute with massive amounts of data available for subsequent analysis, which resulted in instant insights - I felt like I was taking raw ingredients and quickly turning it into a nice meal.

It wasn't all perfect. At times getting started on GCP felt like learning how to ride a bike on a street with no training wheels (especially if you are not familiar with cloud technologies, or Linux) and the multiple changes and updates from the latest interface builds of GCP didn't help matters. Regardless, after getting familiar with each programs unique syntax the pieces started to come together, and we were able to turn it up a notch on our workflows.

Overall, GCP is a great product with fantastic tools, and good pricing. Sure, who wouldn't want faster support, and easier migrations, but i would recommend GCP to any company that is looking for cloud products and services and wants something that can grow with them.
